The annual Prairie du Chien Holiday Parade, presented by the city’s chamber of commerce will be held Friday, Dec. 3, at dusk, on Blackhawk Avenue.

Any business or organization wishing to participate in the parade is asked to begin lining up at 5 p.m. on St. Feriole Island. There is no fee to participate. Lighted floats and holiday music are encouraged. 

This festive parade in historic downtown Prairie du Chien officially kicks off the holiday season and serves as a reminder to shop local, shop the Prairie du Chien area this holiday season for gift giving.

Santa and Mrs. Claus are making a special trip back to Prairie du Chien to wish all of the holiday parade spectators a “Merry Christmas.” 

Afterward, join the Friends of Villa Louis as they celebrate the tradition of gathering for the holidays, at the Waterfront Hotel downtown. As a fundraiser for the Villa Louis, stop by after the Holiday Parade to visit with Santa, get pictures taken and sip on some delicious hot refreshments. There is a $5 fee to have your picture taken with Santa, as all proceeds will benefit the Villa Louis.

Bundle up and head to Blackhawk Avenue Friday for this year’s annual chamber of commerce event. For more information on how you can participate in this year’s holiday parade, contact the Prairie du Chien Area Chamber office at 326-8555.

Help Prairie police Stuff the Squad

The Prairie du Chien Police Department invites the public to join them in their Stuff the Squad campaign, as they hope to bring joy to families who may need a little extra help for the holidays. 

On Friday, Dec. 3, from 5:30 to 7 p.m., officers will be stationed at the Beaumont Road/Blackhawk Avenue intersection, ready to collect non-perishable food items and new toys for distribution to Operation Santa Claus and the Couleecap Food Pantry in Prairie du Chien. This is set around the same time as the chamber’s annual Holiday Parade at downtown. To warm up those out and about that evening, Dunkin Donuts of Prairie du Chien will be providing hot chocolate, coffee and donuts during this event.
