Wisconsin WEDC secretary will kick off statewide shopping promotion in Prairie du Chien

Saturday, Nov. 27, is the start of the annual Shop Small promotion across the state of Wisconsin. Melissa “Missy” Hughes, Secretary and CEO of WEDC (Wisconsin Economic Development Corporation), will kick off this event for Wisconsin in Prairie du Chien. Secretary Hughes will be in the community to visit and shop downtown.

Shop Small is an annual promotion that emphasizes shopping locally and supporting small businesses. The business community is excited that Secretary Hughes has chosen Prairie du Chien to promote this event. 

Nov. 27 will kick off the local month-long Santa Shops Small Promotion to support businesses in Prairie du Chien, Marquette and McGregor.

Organized by Katie Ruff, owner of By the Spoonful; Teresa Champion, owner of The Planted Tree; and Tammie Katzung, PdC Main Street Manager, Santa Shops Small rewards shoppers who make purchases at participating businesses. The event runs from Nov. 27 through Dec. 24. 

To highlight the visit of Secretary Hughes, local businesses will be buzzing with lots of activity to enjoy while shoppers come out to do their holiday shopping.
