Woodrow F. Kuhse
Woodrow Francis Kuhse, 62, of Elkader, died Saturday, Nov. 13, 2021, at his home in Elkader. He was born April 24, 1959, in Prairie du Chien, Wis., to Francis W. and Catherine (Weber) Kuhse.
He graduated from Garnavillo High School. Woody worked on a dairy farm and was known for driving the tractor home for lunch. He retired in January of 2021.
Woody enjoyed gardening, fishing and spending time with his dogs. He was an enthusiastic coon hunter — even so he never carried a gun! One time, he tried to shoo a coon up a tree with bare hands.
He was always willing to help and enjoyed baking cookies. He cooked lunch for Bernie every day after their mom passed away in February of 2019. He never turned down a meal and never complained about the cooking even so it wasn’t always good.
Survivors include his brothers, Bernard E. (Sandra) Kuhse of Edgewood and Joseph Kuhse of Dubuque, step-nephew, Lucas Walter-Klosterman, and many friends.
Woody was preceded in death by his parents and grandparents.
Visitation will be from 9 until 10:45 a.m., Thursday, Nov. 18, at Peace United Church of Christ in Elkader. Funeral service will follow at 11 a.m., at Peace United Church of Christ, with Rev. Jon Haack officiating. Inurnment will be at East Side Cemetery, Elkader.
