Richard J. “Dick” Kilian, 80, of Boscobel, passed away on Wednesday morning, Oct. 13, 2021, at Divine Rehabilitation and Nursing in Fennimore. 

He was born on Oct. 10, 1941, in Milwaukee, the son of John and Clara (Blaha) Kilian. Dick was united in marriage to Patricia Szymaszek on May 21, 1966, at The Basilica of St. Josaphat, Catholic Church in Milwaukee. Dick graduated from high school in Milwaukee and then attended the University of Marquette. Coming from a banking background within the family, he chose to follow in his father’s footsteps. Dick thrived in the banking business, serving in many locations throughout the state and being employed as vice president at most locations. He served at Heritage and Northridge Bank in Milwaukee, Edgewood Bank in Greenfield, Prairie City Bank and F&M Bank in Prairie du Chien, and lastly as president at Community State Bank in Prentice. He retired in 2005 and moved to Boscobel and did some financial consulting for the law firm of Quarles and Brady in Madison. He and Pat loved their cottage on the Chippewa Flowage, where they made many fond memories. Dick was involved with the community of Boscobel, serving on committees along with helping with local elections. He enjoyed working outside, gardening, and going for walks with his dogs. Dick was an active member of the St. Mary’s Catholic Church and demonstrated his strong faith daily. 

Dick is survived by his beloved wife of 55 years, Patricia of Boscobel; two daughters, Suzette Huggett of Marlette, Mich. and Kathy (Mike) Oium of Eastman; eight grandchildren, Nicholas, Andrew, Christopher, Patrick Dischinger, Dow and Elizabeth Huggett, Pierce Lach and Bree Anna Oium, and several great-grandchildren.

Dick was preceded in death by his parents; mother- and father-in-law, Marie and Alexander Szymaszek; and son-in-law, Mark Huggett. 

Funeral services were held on Monday, Oct. 18, at St. Mary’s Catholic in Fennimore with burial in the church cemetery in Fennimore. Visitation was prior to the time of service at the St. Mary’s Catholic Church Hall.
