Ronald K. Conley, 58, of Mt. Hope, passed away unexpectedly on Sunday, Sept. 26, 2021, at his residence in Woodman Township.

He was born on Jan. 11, 1963, in Lancaster, the son of Leonard and Judith (Giesen) Conley. Ron met Robin Keepers and they began their life together on March 12, 1982. They were united in marriage on Oct. 23, 1993, at St. Lawrence O’Toole Catholic Church in Mt. Hope Township. Ron graduated from Fennimore High School. He milked for a few years until becoming a farm mechanic. He worked for John and Londa Pronald for 18 years. His creativity and patience allowed him to fix anything. Ron also developed a love for garden tractor pulling in 1986. Ron’s dedication to the sport turned into a passion and he established the American Mini-Pullers Club. He was the founding member along with President for the next 26 years, establishing one of the best garden tractor pulling clubs in the area.

In March of 2006, Ron had the opportunity to follow his dream of farming. He purchased the family farm where he was crop farming and raising cattle. He also continued working as a mechanic, in his shop on the farm, when he wasn’t busy in the fields. Ron loved going for rides on his motorcycle with his wife Robin, shooting pool, dancing, attending tractor pulls in Louisville, Ky., and being outdoors. Ron will be remembered for being an extremely hard worker and things being done his way. He was a special friend and neighbor you could always count on, and often a man of few words, but left many conversations with his quick wit.

Ron is survived by his beloved wife and best friend, Robin of Mt. Hope; mother, Judy Conley of Bloomington; two brothers, Scott (Lorene) Conley of Boscobel and Kurtis (Kelly) Conley of Patch Grove; and sister Debra (Ken) Moris of Bloomington; mother-in-law, Rosetta Beilfuss of Boscobel; brothers- and sisters-in-law, Kevon (Sue Davies) of Mt. Hope, Vincent (Kathleen) Keepers of Lancaster, Tim Keepers of Dansville, Mich., DeLon (Kara Wells) Keepers of Lone Rock; along with many very special nieces, nephews and cousins.

Ron was preceded in death by his father, Leonard Conley on Aug. 14, 2005, father-in-law, Leslie Keepers, sisters-in-law, Eunice and Laura Keepers; brothers-in-law, Monte and Michael Keepers; and his favorite dog, Marnie.

Funeral service will be held at 11 a.m. on Friday Oct. 1, at the St. Lawrence O’Toole Catholic Church in Mt. Hope Township with burial to follow in the church cemetery. Visitation will be held from 4 to 7 p.m. on Thursday Sept. 30, at the St. Mary’s Catholic Church Hall in Fennimore and from 9:30 to 10:30 a.m. on Friday morning at the St. Lawrence O’Toole Catholic Church.

In lieu of plants and flowers a memorial fund is being established in loving memory of Ron Conley. The Larson Family Funeral Home, in Fennimore, is assisting the family and online condolences may be made at  larsonfuneralhomes.com.
