Thomas Earl Pielmeier, 75, passed away peacefully on Wednesday, Sept. 15, 2021. His family is grateful to The Lord and Savior Jesus Christ for the eternal life granted to Tom in Heaven. Even as his health declined, he accepted the life God gave him, always asking to be able to return to church and see friends.

Tom was born in Winona, Minn., on May 7, 1946. He lived at Bethesda Lutheran Home in Watertown through his young adult years, moving to Prairie du Chien, in the early 1980s. He attended Grace Lutheran Church and worked at an opportunity center, regularly announcing the morning weather forecast for everyone. He lived at several Knapp Group Homes while in Prairie du Chien. As he aged, Tom moved to Kenosha to be near his sister’s family and was blessed with friends again at Mt. Zion Lutheran Church. The many things Tom enjoyed included: watching the weather, attending Camp Basic and Camp Matz, “Baby” his green stuffed froggie, picking up sticks for evening fires, teasing family and friends, A Night To Shine dances, good food and treats, and spending time with his family.

Tom is survived by his sister, Kathy (John) Tegen; nieces and nephews, Karla (Bernie) Kennedy, Kristi (John) Meier, Kevin Pielmeier, Andrew Sievert, Renata (James) Waack, Chantell Sievert, Erik (Renee) Tegen, and Ruslan (Beth) Tegen; sister-in-law, Ilse Pielmeier; and many great-nieces and great-nephews.

He was preceded in death by his parents, Jacob and Viola Pielmeier; brother, Melvin; niece, Karen Fryer; and brother-in-law, Clarke Sievert.

A private graveside service will be held on Tuesday morning, Sept. 21, in Minnesota City, Minn. In lieu of flowers, memorials would be appreciated in memory of Tom to the Sievert Scholarship Fund at Martin Luther College in New Ulm, Minn. Fawcett-Junker Funeral Home in Winona is serving the family during this time of loss.
