MFL MarMac volleyball team digs out second win
By Audrey Posten, Times-Register
The MFL MarMac volleyball team went 1-1 last week, losing one game of a triangular at Maquoketa Valley to the home team but picking up a win against West Central in the other match.
Maquoketa Valley started off strong against the Bulldogs, taking the first set 25-15. MFL MarMac then edged the Wildcats 25-23 in the second, but couldn’t sustain that momentum through the third set. Maquoketa Valley cruised to a 15-4 total and claimed the game.
The Bulldogs also lost their first set against West Central, 25-14, and won the second, 25-17. But unlike in the match with the Wildcats, MFL MarMac was able to come out ahead in the deciding third set, squeaking out a 15-13 advantage against last year’s Upper Iowa Conference champions.
No individual stats were available for either game.
The Bulldogs now sit at 2-3 overall. They will start conference play this week, hosting Postville on Thursday, Sept. 16. The team will then head to a tournament at Waukon on Saturday, Sept. 18.
