Loral E. Hare, 80, of Prairie du Chien, passed away Wednesday, Aug. 11, 2021, at his home surrounded by his family. 

He was born May 4, 1941, in Prairie du Chien, the son of Claude and Lillian (Stagman) Hare. Loral was raised in the Prairie du Chien area and graduated from Prairie du Chien High School. He married Josephine Jelinek on Oct. 6, 1962, and they had four sons, Loral (Tammy), Lee, Joseph (Lori), and Norman (Mary). Loral worked at the National Decorated Metals, Whitewater Fertilizer Plant, and farmed in Seneca. He also worked at the Hiram Walker Cooperage on the woods crew, and at Warner Brake and Clutch in Roscoe, Ill. before moving back to Prairie du Chien, where he bought a farm from Joseph and Elizabeth Jelinek in 1976. There, he farmed until retirement in 2002. 

Loral is survived by his wife of 58 years, Josephine; their four sons, Loral, Lee, Joseph and Norman; four grandchildren, Matthew, Caitlin, Brian and Kerri.; sisters-in-law, Elizabeth Munson and Pat (Mark) Lesler; nieces, Wendy (John) Maruna, Barb Munson, Michelle (John) Munson; nephew, Scott Michel; cousins and other relatives. 

He was preceded in death by his parents, Claude and Lillian; half-brothers, Earl and Lyle; and half-sisters, Ruth Berg and Myrl Trautsch.

Funeral services will be Saturday, Aug. 14, at 11 a.m. at the Garrity Funeral Home Chapel with burial in the Calvary Cemetery, both in Prairie du Chien. Friends may call at the funeral home on Saturday from 9 a.m. until the time of services. In lieu of flowers, memorials are preferred to Crossing Rivers Health Hospice.
