Annette Louise (Roepke) Reimer, 78, of Elkader, passed away at home surrounded by her family on Tuesday evening, Aug. 3, 2021.

 

Annette was born Sept. 1, 1942, to Walter and Carolyn (Jakeway) Roepke in Waterloo. She grew up in the Aurora area along with her five siblings, attending grade school in Stanley. She graduated from Oelwein High School in 1960 and attended Wartburg College in Waverly for one year.

 

Annette was united in marriage with Bill Reimer on July 3, 1963, at Holy Trinity Lutheran Church in Dubuque. After several moves, they purchased Nietzel Pharmacy in Muscatine. While in Muscatine, she was active with family, church and the community, while also working in insurance and investment offices.

 

Annette decided to go back to further her education. She attended Muscatine Community College and then transferred to the University of Iowa. She obtained her degree in marketing, graduating the same year as her daughter graduated with her MBA.

 

Annette retired from employment in 1998 and continued to surround herself with family and friends. She remained very active in church and many community organizations. She loved to travel, visiting all 50 states and making several overseas trips as well.

 

She is survived by her husband of 58 years, Bill of Elkader; daughter, Janet (Glenn) Matsuda of Emerald Hills, Calif.; son, David (Bobbie) Reimer of Elkader; four grandchildren, Caitlin Reimer (Jeff) Johnson, Garrett Matsuda, Darcy Matsuda and Charles Reimer; one great-granddaughter, Emery Rose Johnson; sister, Mary (Duane) Gerstenberger of Seattle, Wash.; brother, Lee (Kate) Roepke of Aurora; and many nieces, nephews and friends.

 

She was preceded in death by her parents and three brothers, Donald, Bill and Kenny.

 

The family would like to express their sincere gratitude to all of their friends and to Crossing Rivers Hospice for their support.

 

Visitation was on Aug. 6, at Leonard-Grau Funeral Home and Cremation Service, in Elkader. Funeral service was at 10:30 a.m. on Aug. 7, at Trinity Lutheran Church in Guttenberg. Rev Christian Kincaid officiated.
