A 34-year-old Prairie du Chien man has been charged in Crawford County Circuit Court with one count of possession of meth, one count of possession with intent to deliver marijuana greater than 200 grams, one count of felony bail jumping, one count of the use or possession with intent to use a masking agent, and one count of possession of drug paraphernalia. K

Kyle Vanderbilt faces up to 13 years and two months in prison and fines totaling $31,000 if convicted of all counts.

According to the criminal complaint, the Prairie du Chien Police Department received information from the Probation and Parole Department of the Wisconsin Department of Corrections indicating the likelihood that controlled substances  were being stored and/or used at Vanderbilt’s residence.

Inside Vanderbilt’s bedroom they found two bags that concealed various controlled substances and drug paraphernalia, including a large amount of raw marijuana, and multiple retail items containing marijuana, including vaping cartridges. The amount of marijuana significantly exceeds that which would be expected to be kept for an individual’s personal use, according to the complaint. The bags also concealed several pipes.

In the kitchen, the officers found a plate on which was a small amount of a crystalline substance consistent with meth, along with scales and a syringe that contained suspected meth, the complaint said. Officers also found a plastic bottle, capped with a protruding tube which contained a urine-like liquid. This container is of the type that is commonly utilized to defeat urine tests for controlled substances, according to the complaint.

Prior to this search, Vanderbilt was charged in a different case with felonious possession of meth, and released from custody and subject to bond conditions that prohibited the commission of any new crime and which specifically prohibited Vanderbilt from possessing or consuming any unprescribed controlled substances. The conditions of Vanderbilt’s release, in that case, further required him to submit to random urinalysis at the request of law enforcement.
