Fireworks, tractor pull and more to highlight Ferryville Bluff Daze

Charley Fisher calls the Ferryville Tractor Pull winners! Fun times in Ferryville July 24

River Bluff Daze will return to Ferryville Saturday, July 24. This free event, sponsored by River Bank, features a tractor pull, food, farmers market, fireworks and more.

Beginning at 8:30 a.m., join an expert guide for a nature hike at Sugar Creek Bluff. Meet at the Ferryville Boat Landing to carpool up to the bluff. Hikers will see birds, wildlife, wildflowers and experience the panoramic views of the Mississippi River Valley. The hike is sponsored by the Ferryville Tourism Council. 

At 9 a.m., the popular farmers market will take over Sugar Creek Park. It features Amish goods, produce, crafts, quilts, bird houses, yard ornaments and a variety of products plus free coffee to sip while it lasts. A brat fry by Ferryville Farmers Market Committee will serve Wisconsin brats. 

At 9 a.m., the antique tractor pull weigh-ins start. Then, the 13th annual pull begins at 11 a.m. at the community center.  Transportation between Sugar Creek Park and the Ferryville Community Center for the tractor pull will be available via tractor and wagon. Hosted and organized by the Ferryville Antique Tractor Association, there will be 27 classes for the pull. New antique classes have been added. To register, go to ferryvilletractor.com. The Antique Tractor Association Raffle Tickets will be on sale and there are bucket raffles and prize drawings too.  The tractor pull rain date is Sunday, July 25.

New this year will be a free Kid’s Pedal Pull for ages 4-12, by Kindschi Pedal Pulls, at the community center at 11 a.m. Registration starts at 10 a.m. 

There will be plenty of food for the hungry at Bluff Daze. Beginning at 10 a.m., you can enjoy coffee and doughnuts, authentic Chicago-style Vienna beef hotdogs and Italian beef sandwiches from Novi’s Beef in Berwyn, Ill. Additionally, beverages will be available at the community center, thanks to Freeman Lutheran Church. Adult beverages will be sold by the Ferryville Fire Department and First Responders. 

The Ferryville Vision and Promotion Board raffle this year features a “one of a kind” king/queen size quilt (valued at $700) created by local artist Diane Rosenthal, a “Kay’s Potiques hi-fired original unique design stoneware bowl (valued at $120) and a $100 Cabela’s gift certificate. Raffle tickets are available all day at the community center. The drawing is at 9 p.m., with proceeds benefitting the Playground Fund. 

At 4:30 p.m, the activities move downtown where the restaurants—The Wooden Nickel, Jerry’s Sportsman’s and Swing Inn—will all have drink specials. 

From 5 to 9 p.m., Music at River View Park will feature “The Smokehouse” band performing country and ‘70s rock, sponsored by Jerry’s Sportsman’s Bar & Grill, and The Wooden Nickel. Music at Jerry’s Sportsman’s on the deck at 2 p.m. will also liven up your day.

Concluding the day, fireworks will happen at dusk, sponsored by Mike and Roberta Callaway and staff of Cheapo Depot/Fireworks Outlet and Ferryville Vision and Promotion, along with donations from the community.
