John L. “Jiggs” Finn, 70, of Patch Grove, passed away on Thursday, July 1, 2021, at Waunakee Manor, Waunakee.

He was born on Nov. 15, 1950, in Prairie du Chien, the son of Lawrence and Ruth (Tischhauser) Finn. Jiggs attended West Grant High School, graduating in 1968. On Aug. 21, 1971, he was united in marriage to Terri S. Beneker at the Zion Lutheran Church in Bagley. Together they farmed on the Finn family farm as fourth-generation farmers in Patch Grove Township. Jiggs grew up and lived in the same home all his life. He took pride in the appearance of his manicured farm on his John Deere tractor, as his children spent many hours chopping weeds. Jiggs was known to tell people that even flowers were weeds, despite Terri’s beautiful flower gardens.

Survivors include his children, Kiley Finn, Penny Finn, Maria (Dan) Hoffman, and Kayle Finn; two granddaughters, Alexis and Abby Hoffman; and two brothers, Lyle (Glenda) and Larry Finn.

In addition to his parents, Jiggs was preceded in death by his loving wife, Terri; two sisters, Caroline (Kenneth) Hamilton and Dorothy Hamilton.

Funeral services were held on Tuesday, July 6, at Martin Schwartz Funeral Home & Crematory in Bloomington with Pastor Lance Wetter officiating. Burial was in Patch Grove Cemetery, Patch Grove. In lieu of plants, flowers, and weeds, a John L. “Jiggs” Finn Memorial Fund has been established.
