Bernadine E. Wachter, 94, of Woodman, passed away on Friday, July 2, 2021, at Divine Rehabilitation and Nursing in Fennimore.

She was born on Aug. 23, 1926, in Marion Township, Grant County, the daughter of Lou and Elizabeth (Bender) Freymiller. Bernadine was united in marriage to Herman “Jr.” Wachter on Oct. 20, 1946. Bernadine loved life on farm, working next to her husband through their years in Marion Township. Together they operated a successful farm while raising their daughter Connie. Bernadine also enjoyed raising chickens and enjoyed selling the eggs locally along with having a large vegetable garden. Bernadine loved to can and share her produce with her family and friends. She and Jr. enjoyed going dancing, playing cards, fishing, and she loved listening to music and cheering on her Milwaukee Brewers. Bernadine always took time to write in her journal each and every day and later enjoyed coloring. Her true passion was always on their farm and the lifestyle the land offered. She liked to watch the wildlife and was sure to share with area hunters what she had seen. She always wanted to hear the latest hunting story. Bernadine loved her Lord and was an active member of the Marion Church, serving with the Lady’s Aide for 70 years, and she was an active member of the Mt. Hope American Legion Post #229 Auxiliary. Bernadine was strong-willed but a very loving and giving person who will be deeply missed.

Hope; and sister-in-law, Doris Ann Wachter of Fennimore; along with many nieces, nephews, and cousins.
