  LuVerne Lester Krambeer, 92, of Monona, died Friday, June 18, 2021, at his home in Monona. He was born Oct. 31, 1928, to Lester and Phyllis (Drahn) Krambeer in Wagner Township, rural Luana. He was baptized on Dec. 9, 1928, by Rev. Gerhard Bunge and confirmed on Jan. 10, 1943, at St. Paul Lutheran Church in Monona. LuVerne attended country school through the eighth grade and graduated from Monona High School in 1947, where his baseball team were state champion runners-up. He proudly served in the United States Army from 1951 to 1953, during the Korean Conflict.

 

On March 28, 1954, LuVerne was united in marriage with Jeanette Ann Saacke at St. John Lutheran Church in Farmersburg. Together they farmed in rural Farmersburg from 1954 until they moved to Monona in 1981. LuVerne was a member of St. John Lutheran Church in Farmersburg, and served on the church council, as parish education coordinator and as chairman of the church auction. He bowled for 35 years on the Postville Bowling Leagues. LuVerne enjoyed fishing trips to Canada with friends, summer picnics, holiday get togethers with family and ice fishing with Jim Bollman. His greatest joy was any time spent with his children, grandchildren and great-grandchildren. 

 

Surviving LuVerne are his wife of 67 years, Jeanette Krambeer of Monona; his children, Lindsey (Kim) Krambeer of Farmersburg, Karman (Tom) Crawley of Altoona and Lynette (Wendall Morney) Krambeer of Des Moines; grandchildren, Lucas Krambeer of McGregor, Kenna (Alex) Hamilton of Amana, Bailey (Kurt) Sander of Altoona and Dillan (Taylor) Crawley of Des Moines; great-grandchildren, Lyvea Krambeer and Annabelle and Harper Hamilton; his siblings, Marilyn Baade of Monona and Judy (Jim) Walter of Luana; sister-in-law, Ramona (John) Hoyem; brothers-in-law, Robert (Joyce) Saacke and Marlyn Nuehring.

 

LuVerne was preceded in death by his parents, Lester and Phyllis Krambeer; one sister, Verda Lamker; brothers-in-law, Gene Baade and Duane Lamker; and a sister-in-law, Dorothy Nuehring.

 

Visitation and funeral service were held on June 23, at St. John Lutheran Church in Farmersburg, with Pastor Jeremy Wolfe as the officiant. Burial with military rites was at St. Paul Cemetery in Monona.

 

Leonard-Grau Funeral Home and Cremation Service of Monona is assisting the family with arrangements.
