Motorcyclist injured in accident
On Saturday, June 19, at 6:56 p.m., the Crawford County Communications Center received a report of a motorcycle versus motor vehicle crash at the intersection of State Highway 35 and State Highway 82 in the village of De Soto.
Mary C. Moe, 43, Sparta, was operating a 2010 Dodge Charger northbound on State Highway 35, approaching the intersection of State Highway 82. Jonathon J. Williams, 34, Stoddard, was operating a 2006 Honda road/street motorcycle northbound behind the Moe vehicle. Nicole I. Riggle, 41, De Soto, was operating a 2014 GMC Terrain SUV southbound on State Highway 35 when she turned across the northbound lane of traffic onto State Highway 82.
Based on statements taken at the scene, it was determined that Riggle turned into the path of Moe, causing her to brake abruptly. Williams then struck the rear end of the Moe vehicle, ejecting him from the motorcycle and onto the pavement. Williams was not wearing any protective gear.
Williams was transported to Gundersen Lutheran Medical Center with serious injuries. Riggle was issued a citation for failure to yield the right of way while making a left turn.
Assisting on scene were the De Soto Fire Department, De Soto First Responders, Coon Valley Police Department, Gundersen Tri-State Ambulance, CW Recovery LLC, Vernon County Sheriff’s Office and the Wisconsin State Patrol.
