Crawford County LOCAL EMERGENCY PLANNING
COMMITTEE COMMUNITY RIGHT-TO-KNOW ABOUT
HAZARDOUS MATERIALS
Federal Law P.L. 99-499 was enacted in October 1986 by the U.S. Congress
to protect and inform all citizens of the existence of hazardous chemicals
that may be manufactured, stored, distributed or used in a community.
Public Law 99-499 is the Emergency Planning and Community Right-to
Know Act of 1986, Title III of the “Superfund Amendments and Reauthorization
Act of 1986” (SARA).
Information about these hazardous chemicals and locations within
Crawford County is available for public review between the hours of 8:00am
and 4:00pm, Monday through Friday during regular business hours. The
Emergency Management Office is located at 224 N Beaumont Rd. Prairie
du Chien, WI 53821
The following information is available:
Lists of facilities reporting hazardous materials present.
Material Safety Data Sheets pertaining to chemicals present.
Inventory forms of chemicals reported on the site.
Emergency response plans to manage an accident on site.
Requests for photocopies of hazardous materials information from the
Emergency Management Office shall be submitted in writing no less than
10 days in advance.
Photocopies of the documents may be made at the expense of the
requester and at rates established by the Crawford County Records Control
Ordinance.
