Dwayne L. Carlson, 83, of Elkader, Iowa, passed away on Saturday, June 19, 2021, at MercyOne in Elkader. 

Dwayne was born on Nov. 30, 1937, to Oscar and Ethel (Marfilius) Carlson in rural Farmersburg, Iowa. Dwayne attended Hawkey Country School through the eighth grade and graduated from Monona High School in 1955. He was united in marriage to Arah Lenth on Dec. 2, 1956, in Monona, Iowa. Dwayne was a lifelong farmer. He loved driving semi and grain cart, playing golf and traveling, as well as his winters in Texas wth Arah. Dwayne was on the Fair Board for 25 years, 18 of those years as vice president. He was a member of St. Peter Lutheran Chruch in Garnavillo, Iowa. 

Dwayne is survived by his wife of 64 years, Arah; children, Marsha Carlson of St. Petersburg, Fla.; Brent (Cheryl) Carlson of St. Olaf, Iowa, and Gale Carlson of Bridgeport; grandchildren, Brad and Alisha Carlson of Naperville, Ill., Jamie and Christopher Reimer of Elkader; Tyler Carlson and Kimberly of Elkader, and Nicholas and Chelsea Carlson of Bridgeport; his sister, Darlene Gossman of Monona; and 12 great-grandchildren. 

He was preceded in death by his parents; and one son, Larry Carlson. 

Memorial donations may be directed to the family. No flowers please. 

A celebration of life service and gathering will be held on Sunday, June 27, at Clayton County Fairgrounds at National, Iowa, from 2 to 5 p.m. Online condelences may be directed to the family at www.iowacremation.com.
