Milford “Muff” Arthur Koehn, 92, of Elkader, passed away at the Edgewood Nursing Home on Thursday, June 3, 2021. He was born on Jan. 16, 1929, in rural Clayton County, Cox Creek Township, to William and Rose Anne (Behrens) Koehn. 

 

Muff attended country school until the eighth grade. He served in the United States Army and was stationed in Korea from 1951-1953, during the Korean Conflict. 

 

Muff was united in marriage to Patricia Dawn Moyna on June 12, 1954, at St. Joseph’s Catholic Church in Elkader. Muff worked for Art Johnson and Rockcrest Farms before moving to the farm he bought in 1963. Muff and Pat farmed and raised their seven children in rural Elkader. Muff is most known for his love of raising, riding, driving, showing and buying horses. 

 

Muff is survived by his seven children, Mark William of Elkader, Andrew Paul (Karen Dennler) of Elgin, Nicholas Alan of Farmersburg, Anthony John of St. Olaf, Cydney Louise of Des Moines, Reid Philip (Katherine Griffith) of Elkader and Elise Patricia of Edgewood; brothers, Dick and Ed Koehn of Mt. Vernon and Mike (Kathy) Moyna of Weslaco, Texas; sisters-in-law, Judy Moyna, Erika Moyna, Hazel Koehn and Sharon Koehn, all of Elkader; numerous nieces, nephews and friends. His 13 grandchildren and 10 great-grandchildren will miss him.

 

He was preceded in death by his wife, Patricia; his parents; three sisters, Rose, Eileen and Evelyn; four brothers, William Jr., Alvin, Ray and Leo; brothers-in-law, Jerry and John “Jack” Moyna; and sisters-in-law, Ruth Koehn and Donna Koehn.

 

Visitation will be from 9 to 11 a.m. on Friday, June 18, at St. Joseph Catholic Church, Elkader. Mass of Christian burial will be at 11 a.m. at St. Joseph Catholic Church, Elkader, with Rev. John Haugen as celebrant. Inurnment with military honors will be at St. Joseph Catholic Cemetery, Elkader.

 

In lieu of flowers, memorials may be directed to the local American Legion.
