Lois (Klotzbach) Davis was born on April 30, 1936, in her family's home with her grandmother as a midwife. She attended Swede Ridge Rural School, a one-room schoolhouse, through eighth grade. She then attended McGregor High School from ninth to 12th grade. Lois loved basketball and was a strong player in her high school days. She also loved music throughout her life and, even while never really taking any official piano lessons, was known for her time spent at the keys.

After high school, Lois spent one year in Iowa City and then three years at Finley Hospital training to be a nurse. From 1960 to 1962, Lois went to Germany as a nurse and spent time traveling through Switzerland, Paris and southern Germany. In January of 1962, while working at 10th Field Hospital, Lois met Russ, who was a patient. They fell in love and married not too long after, in February of 1962. The two would go on to have a long and loving marriage and have three children, Mark, Bob and Tim, whom they loved dearly.

After living and working in Germany, Lois and Russ lived in Warren, Ohio, for a very short time and then moved to Dubuque, where their first child, Mark, was born. They later moved to Minneapolis, where Lois worked as a nurse at Deaconess Hospital from 1964 to 1984, and then Ridges Hospital from 1984 to 2000.

After Lois retired, she and Russ moved back to McGregor, where they lived for the rest of their lives in a home built by Lois’ parents.

Lois was kind, driven and always putting others before herself. She was beloved by everyone she knew.

Lois was preceded in death by her mother and father, Esther and Robert Klotzbach; three siblings, brother Jim Klotzbach, sister Dorthy (Dotty) Scholtz and brother William (Bill) Klotzbach; and her adoring husband, Russell (Russ) Davis.
