MFL MarMac girls wrap track and field season

The MFL MarMac girls track and field team closed out its season May 13, in the district meet at Edgewood-Colesburg. The Bulldogs tallied eight points, placing them 14th as a team.
The best finish of the day came in the 400 meter dash, where freshman Amelya Weigand placed seventh. Teammate Alexis Ross was 17th in the event. Other Bulldog sprinters included Sadie Ewing, who was ninth in the 100, and Abby Schellhorn, who crossed the line 12th in the 200. Ross also competed in the 200, finishing 20th.
In the distance events, Clare Grau came in ninth in both the 1500 and 3000 meter races. Ayla Gerndt worked her way to 14th in the 800 meter run, while Kaylee Nuehring placed 19th in the 800 and 14th in the 1500.
MFL MarMac competed in five relays, placing highest in the 800 sprint medley, where Kaylee Walch, Melanie Ruff, Schellhorn and Ewing combined for seventh. The 1600 distance medley group of Melanie Ruff, Ewing, Walch and Grau finished eighth, as the did the 4x200 team of Mackenzy Ruff, Gerndt, Ross and Weigand. Schellhorn, Melanie Ruff, Walch and Ewing also combined for eighth in the 4x100, while the efforts of Walch, Schellhorn, Gerndt and Weigand put the Bulldogs 10th in the 4x400.
In the field events, Mackenzy Ruff threw her way to 10th place in the shot put and 16th in the discus. Weigand finished 12th in the long jump.
