Bulldog golfers compete in conference meets, Landt advances to districts

The MFL MarMac boys golf team placed fifth at last Monday’s Upper Iowa Conference meet, after turning in a combined score of 385. North Fayette Valley won the meet—which was held at the South Winneshiek Golf Course—with a 345. They were followed by Clayton Ridge at 372, South Winn at 376 and Turkey Valley at 382.

 

NFV’s Nick Koch shot an 83 and was the meet medalist. He was one of four NFV golfers to finish in the top four that day.

 

Gavin Meana was MFL MarMac’s best finisher, placing sixth with a score of 90. Nick Krambeer came in 18th after shooting a 96, followed by Braden Landt in 22nd place with a 98. Other Bulldog scores included a 101 from Joe Grau, 106 from Ben Miene and 111 from Jonah Wille.

 

MFL MarMac was back in action May 14, in a Class 2A sectional at Guttenberg Golf and Country Club. The Bulldogs tallied a 387 this time around, but improved their placement to fourth, trailing Beckman Catholic at 348, Cascade at 355 and Northeast at 368. Nate Offerman from Beckman Catholic was the top individual with an 80.

 

Landt also had a stellar performance, shooting an 89 over 18 holes—an effort that put him fifth and advanced him to districts at Columbus Catholic, Waterloo on Friday, May 21. Krambeer was 12th with a score of 94. Meana, Miene and Grau all shot 102s, tying for 16th, while Wille finished the meet at 105.

 

Girls seventh at conference meet

The MFL MarMac girls golf team also competed in its conference meet last week, at Tri City Golf Course near Luana. The Bulldogs placed seventh with a score of 581.

 

Turkey Valley took the conference title, shooting a combined 457, while South Winn’s Sydney Becker was the meet medalist with a 101. 

 

MFL MarMac’s top finisher was junior Miranda Lang, who finished 18 holes with a 122—good for 12th place. Rose Grau wasn’t far behind, finishing 13th with a 123. Other scores included a 159 from Haylee Guyer, 177 from Chylie Feuerhelm and 202 from Mallory Lang.

 

On May 17, the girls headed to the Class 1A Region-4B meet at Lone Pine Country Club, Colesburg.
