Krahn to play for University of Wisconsin
By Ted Pennekamp
Prairie du Chien High School junior guard Lily Krahn has verbally committed to join the University of Wisconsin women’s basketball team. Krahn chose Wisconsin over NCAA Division I offers from Oklahoma State, Kansas State, Bradley, Illinois State, UW-Milwaukee, and Nebraska Omaha.
The 5-10 Krahn is an outstanding ball handler who can dribble behind her back and between her legs when necessary in order to beat heavy defensive pressure as she brings the ball up the court. She is also an excellent passer and scorer.
Krahn averaged 20.6 points per game this past season. She shot nearly 54 percent from the field, including 39 percent from 3-point range. She made 58 treys this season.
Krahn also averaged 4.8 rebounds, 3 assists, and 2.8 steals per game.
Krahn was named the Player of the Year in the Southwest Wisconsin Conference and led the Lady Blackhawks to the conference crown with a 9-0 record. Prairie du Chien finished the season with an overall mark of 17-3.
“Lily has continued to grow as an athlete each year for the program and I look forward to having her another year in the program,” said Prairie du Chien Coach Paula Shedivy. “I’m excited for her and look forward to watching her play at Wisconsin.”
Krahn will join Michele (Kozelka) Pattison (1988-1992) as only the second Prairie du Chien High School girls’ basketball player to play for the University of Wisconsin.
