On Tuesday, April 27, the Blackhawks boys soccer team hosted the Postville Pirates for their final match of the alternative spring season, a non-conference match on the Bluff View pitch.

The Pirates, an experienced and skilled team, came out fast, sending their speedy forwards for long runs and scoring in the first minute of play.

The Blackhawks stepped it up with aggressive and tenacious play, slowing the Pirates, but being unable to stop their forwards. Sophomore Joey Xiya, playing at the sweeper position, rattled the Pirates and prevented many scoring opportunities. Throughout the game, the Blackhawks put together many promising attacks, but were unable to connect with the goal. Unfortunately, fatigue and injuries plagued the Blackhawks, leading to a barrage of Pirate scoring throughout the remainder of the game. Despite a solid effort by the Blackhawks, the Pirates upset the Blackhawks with a final score of 10-0.

The Blackhawks are looking forward to the offseason to continue growing as a team and improving their skills. With the team losing no players to graduation, gaining several freshmen players, and adding players through the coop with River Ridge and Seneca, the fall season looks very promising.
