Lavern K. Konichek, 67, of Muscoda and formerly of Richland Center, passed away Friday, April 16, 2021, at UW Hospital in Madison. 

He was born on July 16, 1953, the son of Joe and Alta (Balzell) Konichek. As a child, he worked in his mom’s two-acre garden every spring and summer. Lavern graduated from Muscoda High School. He was employed at Bindl Tire and Auto for over 30 years until his retirement in 2019. Lavern was a person who would help anyone in need of tires. He was extremely outgoing and would always make new friends.

Lavern is survived by his girlfriend of 34 years, Sandra McCauley, of Muscoda; brother, John Konichek, of Fennimore; three nieces; one nephew; 16 great-nieces and great-nephews; special cousin, Sandy Guernsey; other relatives, and many friends.

Lavern was preceded in death by his parents; brother, Lawrence; and infant sister, Alta Mary.

Graveside services will be held at 2 p.m. on Wednesday, April 28, at the Evergreen Cemetery in Prairie du Chien. Memorials made to the family in Lavern’s name may be sent to Pratt Funeral and Cremation Service, 120 N. Park St., Richland Center, WI 53581, The Pratt Funeral and Cremation Service is assisting the family with arrangements.
