Nancy Kay (Pape) Wirkler, 52, passed away Monday, April 19, 2021, at Veterans Memorial Hospital in Waukon.

Nancy was born Dec. 12, 1968, to Gerald and Marilyn (Dickman) Pape in Prairie du Chien, Wis. She was raised on a dairy farm in Hickory Creek valley and graduated from MFL Community School in 1987. Nancy was united in marriage to Robert on Feb. 12, 1988, at St. John’s Lutheran Church in Luana. She milked cows and raised cattle with her husband for 12 years before they made the tough decision to move on to other occupations. Nancy loved children and enjoyed her years providing care to her nephew until he started school and nieces when needed. She was most recently employed at TASC in Waukon.

Nancy was a devoted wife and mother and loved spending time with her family. She was happiest outside planting flowers, bird watching and taking care of her animals. She enjoyed playing cards, baking and holiday gatherings. Everyone looked forward to her pies and baked goods at family functions.

Nancy accepted Jesus as her personal savior and was born again in November of 1987. She attended church at the Gospel Hall in Garnavillo with her husband. Her faith and her family were her most prized possessions.

Nancy is survived by her husband Robert of Waukon; four children, Daniel, Zachary and Quentin of Waukon, and Kelly (Cade) Holub of Buckingham; four siblings, Steve Pape, Dan (Janice) Pape, Darci (Paul) Engelhardt and Julie (Eugene) Hemmersbach, all of Luana; brothers-in-law, John (Sherry) Wirkler of Lancaster, Wis., and Don (Cheryl) Wirkler of Garnavillo; sisters-in-law, Beverly of Garnavillo and Claudia of Balltown; and numerous nephews and nieces.

Nancy was preceded in death by her parents, Gerald and Marilyn Pape; a sister, Susan Pape; father and mother-in-law, Vern and Jeanne Wirkler; brothers-in-law, David Wirkler, Paul Wirkler and Joe Wirkler; and nephew, Ryan Wirkler.
