Spring is here and the construction season is sure to follow in order to improve Crawford County’s roads. The County K Project has been discussed for awhile and will be coming up in 2021.

Crawford County Highway Commissioner Kyle Kozelka said the County K Project is a Surface Transportation Program Rural project, which allocates federal funds to assist in rural highway improvement projects. The project is cost shared at an 80/20 split, of federal, and local funds, respectively.

The project is an asphalt mill and overlay from Frederick Street to Cliffwood Drive, and also includes beam guard replacement at the Campbell Coulee Bridge.

The project is scheduled for construction in 2021, and has an estimated construction cost of approximately $632,000.

Other large projects for 2021 include County H Bridge Replacement - Crawford County, Tiller Road Bridge Replacement - town of Clayton, Marietta Valley Road Bridge Replacement - town of Marietta, Byers Road Bridge Replacement - town of Scott, and various culvert replacements on State Highway 131 between Steuben and Gays Mills.

The Courier Press will have more information about the County K Project and the other projects as more becomes known about each project, including when they are scheduled to begin.
