The PDC/Fennimore gymnasts traveled to Dodgeville Thursday night for the Conference Meet.

The competition was very close. PDC/Fenn finished in 5th place with a score of 122.00, Southwestern Co-op was 4th with a score of 122.875, Dodgeville Co-op was 3rd with a score of 124.7, Platteville Co-op was 2nd with a score of 129.875, and River Valley Co-op took 1st with a score of 131.254.

The PDC/Fenn gymnasts started out strong on the floor exercise and vault. Bars was much better this meet, not nearly as many falls. The girls fell apart on the balance beam with many falls. The girls need to work out their nerves during competition. They have great skills on the balance beam they need to connect and stick them and their scores will increase on this event.

There were some standout performances Thursday night. Madilyn Fisher was the conference champion for the vault with a score of 9.225, a season high score! Fisher placed 4th on the floor exercise with a score of 8.85, 2nd on the bars with a score of 8.25, and 2nd in the all-around with a score of 33.7. Alyssa Schoepp placed 6th on floor exercise with an 8.55. Avery Thompson completed her best floor routine of the season with a score of 7.75, and best bar routine with a score of 7.5. Madison Otts also performed her best floor routine of the season with a score of 7.65.

The gymnasts will compete in La Crosse on Thursday for the sectional meet. This meet will have some very difficult competition. This year, due to Covid, instead of six sectionals for the state of Wisconsin, they combined the sectionals into four. Many of the bigger schools are now in PDC/Fenn’s sectional.

Best of luck to all competing gymnasts next week!
