MFL MarMac senior Jacob Trudo last week signed a letter of intent to play football at North Dakota State College of Science.

Located in Wahpeton, N.D., along the Minnesota border, the school is a two-year junior college. Trudo, who hopes to play offensive line, said he was attracted to the business-like mentality at North Dakota State College of Science.

“There wasn’t a lot of distractions. They really just want everyone to get the highest competition and work you can while you’re there, and try to get everyone to the next level,” he said. “It’s in a pretty small town. On game days, most of the town comes. That’s what I’m looking forward to.”

Trudo was selected to the all-district second team offense his junior year with the Bulldogs. Although he’s back at MFL MarMac now, for family reasons, he did not play his senior football season at the school, but rather at Caledonia High School in Minnesota. COVID-19 limited the team to just three games, but Trudo doesn’t believe that hindered his development.

“I still got a lot of good repetitions in with practice and the couple of games we did get to play,” he said. “The games we didn’t get to play, I think it just made me hungry for more. It’s going to make me work harder this summer toward the goal of playing higher.”

Trudo has dreamt of playing college football since middle school.

“I was always trying to get to that next level,” he stated. “I’m really looking forward to getting to a higher level and seeing what that’s like for competition, the work I’m going to have to put in against better competition.”

At North Dakota State College of Science, Trudo plans to study business or computer science. After one year, he hopes to move up to a bigger college.
