Arnold Holthaus, 86, of Colesburg,  passed away on Saturday, Dec. 12, 2020. After months of failing health, he died peacefully at the Edgewood Convalescent Home in Edgewood.

Public visitation will be from 9:30 a.m. to 10:30 a.m., on Thursday, Dec. 17, at Leonard-Muller Funeral Home in Edgewood. Masks are required.

A private family service will be held at the funeral home.

Interment will be at Zion Cemetery, Colesburg.

Arnold was born on June 22, 1934, on the farm near Colesburg, the son of Elmer and Lillian (Dodge) Holthaus. He was raised on the family farm south of Colesburg, where he still resided prior to moving into the nursing home. Arnold was a 1953 graduate of Colesburg High School.

On March 5, 1955, Arnold was united in marriage to the love of his life, Donna Hansel. Five children were born to this union, Steve, Cathy, Joe, Susan, and Linda.  Arnold was a proud farmer his entire life. He was a jokester, had an infectious laugh, and loved to tell stories. Arnold was a strong, proud, and good man. He was loved and will be missed by many.

Survivors include his loving wife, Donna of Colesburg; three children, Cathy (Ron) Kirby of Colesburg, Joe Holthaus of Colesburg, and Susan (Bill) Burgin of Strawberry Point; six grandchildren; 19 great-grandchildren; three great-great-grandchildren; two sisters, Luetta Clute and Bev Bradley; and two brothers, Roger Holthaus and Jim Holthaus.

Arnold was preceded in death by his parents; one daughter, Linda Osterkamp; and one son, Steve in infancy.
