Scylvan M. Bahls
Scylvan Max Bahls, 90, of Garnavillo, died Wednesday, Dec. 9, 2020, at Guttenberg Care Center. He was born on Dec. 16, 1929, in Clayton, the son of Verni and Esther (Lahrs) Bahls.
Scylvan received his education locally and worked for John Deere for over 30 years. On April 3, 1961, Scylvan was united in marriage with Ramona Horstman at St. Paul Lutheran Church in Garnavillo. Scylvan loved fishing, gardening, playing cards, dice and dominoes and attending his grandchildren’s sporting events and music concerts. He loved to work on puzzles and take one-day trips with his family to see something new. He was also known to jump in and help his children with many home improvement projects. He will be missed by all who loved him.
Scylvan is survived by his wife of 59 years, Ramona; children, Michael (Tammy) Bahls, Christy (Lawrence) Phillips and Kimberly Bahls; three grandchildren, Tiffany Ramos, Tara (Tyler) Kennedy and Amanda Phillips; and great grandchildren, Jovi Ramos, Maia Ramos and Talan Kennedy.
He is preceded in death by his parents; two sisters, Wilma Alt and Charlene Horstman; and two nieces, Kathy Alt and Cynthia Kriesler.
Arrangements are being handled by Tuecke-Allyn Funeral Home, Garnavillo. There will be a private family funeral service an interment.
In lieu of flowers and all other styles of sympathy, the family requests memorials to benefit the St. Paul Lutheran Church in Garnavillo.
