Ronald Jon Nuehring, 81, of Guttenberg passed away on Saturday Nov. 14, 2020.

Per Ronnie’s request in lieu of a formal funeral service, a celebration of life will be held at a future date.

Honorary pallbearers were Clay Nuehring, Bubby Nuehring, Kyle Nuehring, Cory Nuehring, Johnny Lee Kolker, Jim Ulbrich, Jon Ulbrich, Timmy Andregg, Shawn Boeke, Chad Willenborg and Bucky Loeffelholz.

Ronnie was born on Dec. 28, 1938, in Guttenberg to Bernette “Sis” (Kann) and Marvin Nuehring. In 1956, following his graduation from Guttenberg High School, he joined the U.S. Navy and was stationed in San Diego, Calif. Ronnie was honorably discharged on June 16, 1962. Ronnie married Judy Kulper on Oct. 27, 1960. To this union four boys were born, Clay, Bubby, Kyle, and Cory. Ronnie and Judy made their home on Ronnie’s family’s farm and raised their boys. After being discharged from the Navy, Ronnie worked in a variety of different roles. He worked at Clinton Pallet; enjoyed cooking at Hefel’s for many years; served as a sub artist for Kyle’s Sub Shop; but most importantly served his community for 18-½ years as the City of Guttenberg’s dispatcher. In Ronnie’s spare time, he enjoyed helping the Cherne brothers during harvest.

Along with being a devoted father, grandpa, and great-grandpa to his two-favorite great-grandkids, Ronnie was a man of many talents. Ronnie had a love of being in the kitchen, whether he was baking his famous Christmas sugar cookies and making a batch of Amish Friendship bread or cooking a fabulous Sunday dinner or Sunday morning omelet and sausage. Ronnie had many hobbies to keep him entertained. He loved gathering with the boys to deer hunt and in the spring, hunt morel mushrooms; he passed time cracking walnuts and hickory nuts, mowing grass, cutting and splitting wood, and most of all gardening and canning. Ronnie loved playing bid euchre at family gatherings and taking drives along the countryside with his bride Judy scouting for deer. Ronnie’s two most famous characteristic were his wrist-watch tan line and whisk rubs!

Ronnie will be deeply missed by all his family, friends, and all who knew him. He is survived by his four sons, Clay (Nancy), Bubby (Brenda), Kyle, and Cory; six grandchildren; two great-grandchildren; sisters, Judy (Bill) Brandel, Lois (Claire) Moser, Marlene (Ronnie) McLane, Bonnie Sue Clinton, and Mary Lee Moser; brothers-in-law, Philip (Pat) Kulper and Ronnie Kulper.

He was preceded in death by his wife in February 2020; parents; sister Geraldine, and sisters-in-law, Beverly Kulper, Jill Kulper, and Becky Randall.

Words cannot express how deeply we appreciate everything the doctors and nurses at the Guttenberg Municipal Hospital and Clinics have done to help during this difficult time. The family would also like to gratefully acknowledge and thank everyone who has reached out to help and spoke loving words.

With love-The Kudos Klan
