Chad E. Klatt, of Minneapolis, Minn., went to be with our Lord on Nov. 5, 2020, after a lengthy illness. Chad was born in Waterloo, to Ernie and Luanne (Orvis) Klatt on June 11, 1979. Early in his childhood, his grandparents, Richard and Karen Orvis of Elkader, became his legal guardians and he spent his childhood and youth with them. He graduated from Central Community High School in Elkader in 1997, and played football and basketball and was an outstanding student. He had a love of music and played the drums, following in the footsteps of his father, a drummer and member of the Iowa Rock and Roll Hall of Fame. He then attended the University of Northern Iowa where he graduated Magna Cum Laude in 2001 as the valedictorian in his finance major.

Chad was employed in the financial industry in Minneapolis, first as an investment analyst at Slocum Financial, moving on to Piper Jaffray, and later as a portfolio manager at Cornerstone Capital and then Foundry Partners. Picking stocks was his game and he excelled at it according to his peers.

Chad married Tara (Martini) Raisanen in 2009, and to this union a daughter, Isabella Luanne, was born. She was the light of his life.

Chad had a love for the Iowa Hawkeyes, inheriting that passion from his Uncle Brad and Grandpa Rich. Many happy moments were spent watching the Hawks with family and friends. He enjoyed being around his people. His wit, exuberance and outgoing personality frequently made him the center of attention. He had his entertainer father’s personality. He brightened everyone’s lives.

Chad was preceded in death by his mother, Luanne Hoskins, his father, Ernie Klatt, and his grandparents, Richard and Karen Orvis. He loved and missed them all dearly.

He is survived by his daughter, Isabella Luanne Klatt of Chaska, Minn.; brother Jamie Klatt of Cedar Rapids; nephews Caelin and Chase; stepmother Amy Klatt of Cedar Rapids; Uncle Brad (Deb) Orvis of Decorah; and Aunt Brenda (Chuck) Rodas of Strawberry Point; as well as many cousins. A special thanks to Amy Denn of Minneapolis, Minn., for her friendship and support of Chad.

Due to the current COVID-19 restrictions in Iowa, a celebration of life is planned on June 11, 2021, in Elkader.
