Highland tops River Ridge
Third-seeded Highland defeated host and second seeded River Ridge 32-14 in a WIAA Division 6 playoff game Friday night.
The Cardinals scored on a 40-yard pass with 9:37 to go in the first quarter to take a 6-0 lead.
Highland had a 47-yard pass for a TD with 2:33 left in the first frame to grab a 12-0 advantage.
Ethan Hunt caught a pass from Logan Drone that covered 83 yards for a touchdown with 6:57 remaining in the half as the Timberwolves pulled to within 12-6.
The Cardinals scored on a 25-yard pass at the 1:05 mark of the second period to gain an 18-6 halftime lead.
Highland scored again with 7:36 to play in the third quarter and ran in the 2-point conversion to increase the margin to 26-6.
Drone ran it in from 3 yards out and Will Cooley ran in the 2-point play as the Timberwolves got to with 26-14 with 2:03 left in the third.
Highland scored on a 5-yard run with 11:29 left in the fourth period to make the final score, 32-14.
