On Monday, Nov. 2, 2020, Thomas Hines, devoted husband and father of two children, suddenly passed away at the age of 61.

Due to COVID-19 concerns the family will have private family services.

Arrangements were handled by Tuecke-Allyn Funeral Home, Guttenberg.

Tom was born on June 9, 1959, in Cedar Rapids to Don and Shirley Hines. Tom started working at an early age running heavy equipment. After working many years independently with his father Don and brothers, Stan, Glenn, Pat and John he moved on to join the International Union of Operating Engineers. During his 30 years in the Union he excelled in the field of mechanics and enjoyed a long partnership with Latex Pipeline Construction as his employer.

Tom married the love of his life Donna O’Brien on March 19, 1977. They raised two children, Tabatha and Andrew.

Tom had a passion for his work and family. Tom was the best of us when it came to kindness, loyalty and loving his family with all his soul. His sense of humor and sharp whit was a memorable trait of Tom, and anyone who spent time with him knew he loved a good laugh. Other than enjoying a good laugh Tom enjoyed his family most. Especially his grandchildren, Bryce, Zach and Greyson. He loved them with everything he had in his heart.

He is survived by his wife, Donna; two children, Tabatha (Brian) Hillers and Andrew (Renae) Hines; father and mother, Don and Shirley; grandchildren, Bryce, Zach and Greyson, his sister, Kim, brothers, Stan, Glenn and John; his many nieces and nephews and several cousins.

Tom was proceeded in death by his brother, Pat.
