Bulldogs snag second win in five-set thriller

The MFL MarMac volleyball won its second game of the season—and second Upper Iowa Conference match-up—on Sept. 24, in a five-set thriller with North Fayette Valley.
The Bulldogs were in control early, winning the first two sets 25-21 and 25-22. The TigerHawks played their way back into the game in the third set, however, coming away with a 25-21 advantage. NFV carried that momentum into the fourth set, cruising to a 25-12 victory. MFL MarMac fought back, though, pushing to a 15-11 win in the final frame.
The Bulldogs tried to prolong the winning streak on Sept. 26, in a tournament at Decorah. But the host team was uncooperative, sweeping MFL MarMac 21-17 and 21-12 in straight sets in the first game.
However, the Bulldogs bounced back quickly, getting a sweep of their own—and their third victory—over Clayton Ridge in game number two. MFL MarMac eked out the first set 23-21, then followed it up with a 21-19 victory.
MFL MarMac will play twice this week, with conference match-ups against Central on Tuesday, Sept. 29, and at Turkey Valley on Thursday, Oct. 1.
