Luana Daze planned for Aug. 29-30, with safety measures in place
The Luana Community Club will hold its annual Luana Daze celebration this Saturday and Sunday, Aug. 29 and 30.
“Our goal is to have as much fun as possible, while being as safe as possible,” the group said in a Facebook post.
Numerous hand sanitizer stations will be provided at the event, and there are plans in place for social distancing. All food servers will wear gloves and masks, according to the post.
“We believe, with the cooperation of those who attend, Luana Daze will be a safe, welcome time of almost-normalcy,” the planning committee stated.
The event will kick off Saturday morning, with a pancake, egg and sausage breakfast in downtown Luana from 8 to 10:30 a.m. The Luana Tap will have Bloody Marys and mimosas available all morning.
The Luana Daze parade will take place at 11 a.m. A car show sponsored by Sautter’s Auto Sales will follow from noon to 2 p.m. Trophies will be awarded in a variety of categories, and the public is welcome to vote for their favorite car.
A bean bag tournament will kick off at 12:30 p.m., and the Smokey Burnout Contest, sponsored by Superior Auto, will get underway at 3 p.m.
The Luana Fire Department will serve food throughout the day, with brats and hot dogs in the afternoon and ribeye sandwiches from 5 to 9 p.m.
Saturday night, the Luana Tap will host its 14th annual street dance. Swing Crew, an entertaining band who plays weekly in the Wisconsin Dells, will perform from 9 p.m. to 1 a.m.
Luana Daze activities will continue Sunday, with the tractor pull starting at noon.
