Clair “Bub” Kruger, 74, of Strawberry Point, formerly of Littleport, passed away on Monday, July 27, 2020, at his home surrounded by his family. He was born on March 9, 1946, in Greeley, the son of Calvin and Etna (Fierstine) Kruger. Clair was raised in Greeley and Edgewood and was a 1964 graduate of Edgewood-Colesburg High School. In 1965, he was drafted into the United States Army and served honorably until his discharge in 1967. 

On Feb. 11, 1967, Clair was united in marriage to Maxine Kruse at the Immanuel Lutheran Church in Elkport. Two sons were born to this union. Over the years, Clair worked as a parts manager for several implement dealers and retired from the Bodensteiner Implement Company in Elkader.

Clair enjoyed hunting, fishing, dancing and playing softball. He also liked working on equipment and could fix anything. Clair loved his family and enjoyed spending time with them.

Survivors include his wife of 53 years, Maxine Kruger of Strawberry Point; his two sons, Travis (Gisele) Kruger and Cody (Alicia) Kruger, all of Strawberry Point; eight grandchildren, Alyssa, Keaton, Tristen, Anne, Giulia, Henry, Josie and Aubrey; his five siblings, Judy Anton of Manchester, Connie (Tom) Allyn of Manchester, Fritz (Rev. Mary Green) Kruger of Manchester, Craig (Wendy) Kruger of Mt. Vernon and Frank Kruger-Robbins of Boca Raton, Fla.; and many nieces and nephews.

Clair was preceded in death by his parents; three sisters, Janice in infancy, Jean Kruger in 2016 and Joyce O’Donnell in 2019; and two brothers-in-law, Dr. F.C. O’Donnell and Eugene Anton.
