Roger E. Champion, 79, of Prairie du Chien, passed away Saturday, Aug. 1, 2020, at Prairie Maison in Prairie du Chien. 

He was born March 23, 1941, in Prairie du Chien, the son of John and Hazel (Quinn) Champion. He graduated from Bagley High School and later married Diane Sedlmayr in 1980, in Copeland Park in LaCrosse. Roger was humorous and quick-witted. He was a terrific fisherman, great mechanic, and a good carpenter. 

Roger is survived by his wife of 40 years, Diane; his children of a previous marriage, Jeff Champion, Jim Champion, and Julie (Brian) Kohlmann; his nieces, Shelli McLimans and Susie Redman; his nephew, David Champion; his sister-in-law, Sally Esser-Champion; five grandchildren and one great-grandchild.

Roger was preceded in death by his parents; his brothers, Robert and John Ronald; and his sister, Eileen. 

Per Roger’s wishes, a graveside service will be at a later date in the Bagley Cemetery in Bagley. The Garrity Funeral Home, of Prairie du Chien, is assisting the family.
