Lawrence J. Becwar, 91, of Ferryville, passed away Wednesday, June 3, 2020, at Vernon Memorial Hospital in Viroqua. 

He was born April 1, 1929, in Eastman, the son of Henry and Susan (Zinkle) Becwar. 

He married Jeanette Caya on Oct. 18, 1947, at St. Wenceslaus Church in Eastman. Together they farmed in the Eastman and Mt. Sterling area. She preceded him in death in 2011. He was an active member of the Catholic Church, both in St. Wenceslaus Parish in Eastman and St. Patrick’s Parish in Seneca. He was also a member of the Country Music Association and enjoyed dancing and the many friendships formed in the organization over the years, in particular the Friday evening dances at Huckleberry’s Restaurant in Prairie du Chien. 

He is survived by his children, Larry of Seneca, Jerry (Lee) of Mt. Sterling, Ron (Bev) of Gays Mills, Barbara Lynch of Alma, David (Barb) of Ferryville, Phil (Judy) of Prairie du Chien, Laurie (John) Mettling of Pine City, Minn., Mike of Seattle, Wash., and Tamara (Tim) Multerer of Golden Valley, Minn.; 18 grandchildren, 18 great-grandchildren, and a special friend Alice McCauley of Richland Center. 

He was preceded in death by his parents; and his siblings Ray, Dan, Mary Cody, and Margaret Becwar.

A private family service will be held graveside at Dickson Ridge Cemetery in Lynxville, with Reverend Zacharie Beya officiating. 

Memorials may be made to St. Wenceslaus Catholic Church in Eastman, or to St. Patrick’s Catholic Church in Seneca.

The Garrity Funeral Home of Prairie du Chien is assisting the family.
