Theodore A. “Ted” Penfield, 86, of Eastman, passed away Saturday, May 23, 2020, at Prairie Maison Nursing Home in Prairie du Chien after a 15-year courageous battle against cancer.

He was born March 25, 1934, in Verona, the son of Vern and Elizabeth (Barrett) Penfield. He married Naomi “Nicky” Harvey on June 21, 1952, at St. Peter’s Lutheran Church in Prairie du Chien. Theodore worked at General Telephone & Electronics, for 40 years, where he became an Oscar Award winning recipient when he made a commercial in California for GTE. He was an active member of the Eagles Club, Maison Lodge, and the rural volunteer fire department in Prairie du Chien. Ted was an avid sportsman and outdoorsman who enjoyed playing basketball and baseball, riding horses and participating in rodeo events. He also loved to play cards, tell stories, or even try to buy or sell a dog or horse. Ted took great pride in his farm and shared a strong love for his family and faith.

He is survived by his wife of 67 years, Naomi “Nicky;” his daughter, Pam “Pamie” (Dean) Hamann; sons, Ted (Laurie) and Ken “Kenny” (Pam Rose); eight grandchildren; and 11 great-grandchildren.

He was preceded in death by his parents.

A memorial service will be planned for a later date, with burial in the Evergreen Cemetery. The Garrity Funeral Home of Prairie du Chien is assisting the family.
