Marlys Kathleen Pfeiffer, 91, of McGregor, died Sunday, Feb. 2, 2020, at Good Samaritan Society in Waukon, with her family at her side. Marlys was born on May 8, 1928, in Dubuque. She graduated from Dubuque Senior High School in Dubuque in May of 1946.

Marlys was united in marriage to the love of her life, Donald W. Pfeiffer, on June 25, 1946, at St. Mary’s Catholic Church in Dubuque. To this union seven children were born. In her spare time, Marlys enjoyed sewing, golfing, traveling and spending lots of time with her family and friends. 

Marlys is survived by her five children, Rick (Laura) Pfeiffer of Columbia, Mo.; Kirk (Barb) Pfeiffer of Sterling, Ill.; Kymm (Lee) Hinkel of Waukon; Kent (Penny) Pfeiffer of Marquette; and Kris (Scott) Dickey of Parker, Colo.; 14 grandchildren; and 17 great grandchildren. 

Marlys was preceded in death by her husband, Dr. Donald W. Pfeiffer; daughter, Lynn Jo; and a son, Mark Andrew. 

Visitation will be held from 4 to 7 p.m. on Friday, Feb. 7, at Thornburg-Grau Funeral Home and Cremation Service in McGregor. There will also be a one hour visitation before mass at the church on Saturday.

Mass of Christian Burial will be at 11 a.m. on Saturday, Feb. 8, at St. Mary Catholic Church in McGregor, with Rev. Nils de Jesus Hernandez as the celebrant.

Inurnment will be held at a later date in St. Mary Catholic Church Cemetery, McGregor.

Thornburg-Grau Funeral Home and Cremation Service in McGregor is helping the family with arrangements.
