Roselyn (Rosie) Anita Krueger, 78, of Monona, died Sunday, Dec. 1, 2019, at Great River Care Center surrounded by her family. Rosie was born on Nov. 28, 1941, to Merle and Helen (Kraft) Clark in Oelwein. She graduated from Valley High School in 1960. She met the love of her life, Ivan Krueger, during this time when they met at the Strawberry Point roller skating rink and he asked to tie her roller skates. They were married on Nov. 19, 1960, and began their life together. Five children were born to this union.

Rosie held many different jobs throughout the years including Luana City Clerk, cook at the Farmersburg Tavern, the OK Drive-in, in home daycare and finally her life-long favorite job as the elementary principal’s secretary at MFL. She loved being surrounded by children and working at the elementary school was something she enjoyed every day. When Rosie wasn’t working, you could find her volunteering at the Sunday school, attending every event her children were involved in, helping Ivan run the Ivanburger hamburger stand or hosting a get together where she served her famous homemade pizza.

In the later years, her health kept her from getting out and doing many of the things she loved to do, but her enjoyment came from the many visits of her children and babysitting her grandchildren. Rosie will be remembered as being a kind and gentle mother who was there for every scrape, scratch and saved the day with a band aid and a hug. Rosie loved to have her family together for every occasion possible. Nothing made her happier than the laughs and gentle teasing her husband and kids would have whenever together.

Left to cherish her memory is her husband of 59 years Ivan; her five children, Jan (Arleen) Krueger of Decorah, Jeff (Connie) Krueger of Decorah, Jim Krueger of Farmersburg, Dixie (Terry) Doeppke of Luana and Suzanne (Shawn) Kramer of McGregor; 11 grandchildren, Erin Key, Brittany (Cody) Theismann, Emily (Karl) Vang, Kaleb Krueger, Kira Krueger, Chris (Kristen) Doeppke, Riley Doeppke, Heather (Sean) Hoppenjan, Erica Kramer, Carissa (Bryan) Trainor and Derek Kramer; nine great grandchildren and one expected great grandchild this coming May; three sisters, Lois MacGregor, Jeanine Reed and Diane Clark; one sister-in-law Vila Schroeder; and many nieces and nephews.

She was preceded in death by her parents, Merle and Helen Clark, and her brother, Richard Clark.

Funeral services were on Saturday, Dec. 7, at St. Paul Lutheran Church, Monona, with a visitation before services. Rev. Erika Kielstrup was the officiant. Burial followed at St. John Lutheran Cemetery, Luana.

Leonard-Grau Funeral Home and Cremation Service, Monona, is helping the family with the arrangements.

In lieu of flowers, memorials may be directed to the family.
