The Guttenberg Rotary and Umbrella Arts committees are collaborating for their upcoming musical event, Fall Chill: Listening & Ballroom Dancing with Hunter Fuerste & Orchestra. 

The event is set for Saturday, Oct. 26, at the historic Lakeside Ballroom in Guttenberg. Music will be provided for your listening and dancing pleasure from 4-8 p.m. 

Tickets for the event can be purchased in person, by phone or by mail from Esser's Clothing in Guttenberg. Ticket prices are $20 in advance and $25 at the door. Tickets purchased with a credit card over the phone or mail will be held at the door for pickup the day of the event. Phone (563)-252-2095 for phone orders or mail checks to P.O. Hunter Fuerste & Orchestra

Hunter Fuerste, musician and ophthalmologist, alternates between two very diverse careers. He studied music at North Texas State University prior to attending medical school at the University of Iowa. Fuerste spent the summer of 1972 playing trombone and arranging for bandleader Dick Jurgens. In 1976 he worked full time for Guy Lombardo and his Royal Canadians. Fuerste had the privilege of playing in Guy's last television broadcast in 1977 on New Years Eve, live from the Waldorf Astoria Hotel in New York City. 

In the Dubuque area he has conducted orchestras for productions at the Grand Theater, and each Christmas directs the Dubuque Brass Quintet. He was the featured soloist with the Dubuque Symphony Orchestra during their annual pops concert.

Fuerste has spent over two years creating "Swing Out! The Big Band Show" The show sells out five concerts yearly in Dubuque, and has also been presented in several locations throughout Iowa, Wisconsin and Illinois. He was also featured at the Glenn Miller Festival in Clarinda in 2003 and 2005.

Fuerste and his American Vintage Orchestra present an authentic recreation of the big band era. Members of the audience will enjoy music from 1935 to 1945 era. The show features recreations of the original hits of Glenn Miller, Tommy and Jimmy Dorsey, Artie Shaw, Benny Goodman, Harry James, Count Basie and many others. 

When Fuerste is not pursuing his passion for music he works as an ophthalmologist at The Fuerste Eye Clinic in Dubuque.
