Pedretti in Hall of Fame
Pedretti inducted
into WBCA Hall of Fame
Prairie du Chien’s Mark Pedretti was one of four coaches who were inducted into the Wisconsin Baseball Coaches Hall of Fame on Feb. 10.
Pedretti enters the WBCA Hall of Fame after constructing and guiding one of the most dominating programs in the state.
As he enters his 27th season as head coach of the Blackhawks, he’s just seven victories short of passing the 400 career victory mark, something he’ll most likely do in late April this coming season.
His teams have won 18 conference championships in 26 seasons and finished no lower than third those eight seasons they came up short. Pedretti has led his club to nine sectionals, winning four of them. The school’s lone State Championship came in 1993.
Riverdale’s Curt Thompson faced Pedretti’s teams often in the 1990s. He said, “I have a tremendous amount of respect for Mark and his program. We had and still have a very good relationship as I was just getting started in the late 80s. He is a baseball expert and he knows how to run a program. The thing I always remember is even though Prairie du Chien won most of the games we played against one another he always treated us with great respect. The way he treated our players, team and coaches is something that I have tried to do throughout my career when we go up against other teams. He was a big role model for me when I was getting started.”
Pedretti serves the WBCA by being the Conference Representative for the Southwestern Wisconsin Conference. His quiet, calm demeanor is well respected by his fellow coaches as he has left his legacy on Prairie du Chien baseball the past quarter century and counting.
