Jean Wynett French, 79, of Guttenberg, died Tuesday, May 2, 2017, at her home surrounded by her family.

There will be a celebration of life at a later date.

Arrangements are being handled by Tuecke-Allyn Funeral Home, Guttenberg, IA. 

Jean was born on April 10, 1938, in Des Moines, the daughter of Jim and Clarice Hutchins. 

Jean spent her early life in Des Moines where she graduated from North High School. On Jan. 10, 1959, Jean was united in marriage with John H. French in Urbandale. Jean spent many years making her home and raising her children with John. She was Superwoman and she did it ALL including overcoming breast cancer. Jean enjoyed fishing, the outdoors, gardening and her spot in the sun. 

Those left to cherish her memory are her husband of 58 years, John; children, John “Joe” French, Laura Breen, Tony French, Terry French/Erin Bass French and Theresa Doubek; 10 grandchildren; one great-grandchild and many many friends. 

She was preceded in death by her parents; daughter, Catherine French and aunt, Marion Reese. 

In lieu of flowers and all styles of sympathy, please make a donation to breast cancer and/or Alzheimer’s research.
