Leland W. Anderson, 100, of Bagley, passed away peacefully on Wednesday, April 19, at his home in his sleep.

 

He was born on Dec. 30, 1916, in Patch Grove, the son of George and Wessie (Key) Anderson. Leland graduated from Patch Grove High School. He then worked in Chicago for a short time, where he met the love of his life, Elsie Jahoda. They were married on June 17, 1939, in Oak Park, Ill. In 1940, they moved to the Bagley area where they farmed together for many years.

 

Leland drove school bus for the West Grant School District for 18 years. After retiring from farming, he was a milk truck driver for Hazleton Cheese Factory. Leland enjoyed bowling, woodworking, mowing his yard and sitting on his deck watching the birds and flowers. He dearly loved his family and treasured their visits.

 

Survivors include five children Robert (DeAnna), Glenwood Springs, Colo., Dixie (Bob) Duff, Three Rivers, Mich., David, Wisconsin Rapids, Mark, Winona, Minn., Julie (Chuck) Raisbeck, Bloomington; 12 grandchildren; and several great-grandchildren.

 

In addition to his parents, Leland was preceded in death by his wife of 67 years, Elsie; two sisters Meryl and Monna; a daughter-in-law, Colleen; and a grandson, Eric Breuer.

 

Funeral services will be held on Saturday, May 6, at 11 a.m., at Martin Schwartz Funeral Home & Crematory in Bloomington with Reverend Mary Ann Floerke officiating. Burial will be in Patch Grove Cemetery, Patch Grove.
