Grace Bidwell Graap, 100, of Prairie du Chien, passed away Friday, March 31, at the Bethel Home in Viroqua.
She was born Aug. 6, 1916, in Patch Grove, the daughter of Edward and Leila (Louisignau) Millin. She married Julius Graap on Jan. 2, 1938. He preceded her in death on March 1, 1989. They spent their lives together and raised three children in Prairie du Chien–he, a carpenter, and she, a homemaker, beloved mother and an employee of the Piggly Wiggly in Commerce Court. Grace liked to read, loved piano music, enjoyed going out to lunch and nothing was more fun than gathering around the table with family and playing a rousing game of Aggravation.
She is survived by her daughters, Joanne Wisnewski, of Champaign, Ill., and Christina Elrod, of Prairie du Chien; her sister Lila (Francis) Spangler, of Richland Center; her brother James Millin, of La Crosse; her grandchildren, Mary (Bill Walker) Wisnewski of Santa Clara, Calif., Matthew (April) and Adam Wisnewski, of Champaign, Aaron (Diane) Hanna, of Unionville, Ohio, and Julia (Robert) Austin and Laura James, of Jacksonville, Fla.; great grandchildren, Ashley and Aaron Hanna, of Geneva, Ohio, Daniel Wisnewski and Richard Meister, of Champaign, and Sarah and Michael James, of Jacksonville; great-great grandchildren, Daniel, Ellie and Charlotte Wisnewski, of Champaign.
She was preceded in death by her parents; her husband; her son Michael; and her siblings, Frances Bushnell, Alan Millin, Alice Gaulke, Arthur Millin and Marjorie Myers Millin.
A private family graveside service will be later in the Patch Grove Cemetery. The Garrity Funeral Home of Prairie du Chien is assisting the family. “She is home.”
