LaVon A. David
LaVon A. David, 92, of Prairie du Chien, passed away Thursday, Feb. 23, at the Prairie Maison Care Center.
She was born Feb. 26, 1924, in Cassville, the daughter of Lee (George) and Madeline (Kartman) Garner. She married Lawrence Henry David on Aug. 5, 1948, in Cassville. LaVon is remembered for her love of gardening, quilting, playing cards and family genealogy research and was active in church. She and her husband took many vacations in and outside the United States which included family visits. She attended cosmetology school in Dubuque, and was a long time beautician in Prairie du Chien at the Cut ‘n Curl beauty shop. She was preceded in death in May of 2012, by her husband of 64 years, Lawrence.
She is survived by her children: Larry (Kris) David, of Milwaukee, Lynn (John Glebs) David, of St. Louis, Mo., Leslie (David Bowar) David, of Parsonsfield, Maine, Lyle David, of Oregon, LuAnn (Dan) Lipke, of Waukesha, Layne (Susan) David, of Prairie du Chien, Lisa (Tom) Peterson, of Prairie du Chien, Lori (Mike) Theine, of Pleasant Prairie; and 11 grandchildren. LaVon is also survived by a sister, Lois (Garner) (Ron) Case, of Holt, Mich., and a sister-in-law, Rita (Pottebaum) Garner (Stanley).
A Memorial Mass of Christian Burial will be Tuesday, Feb. 28, at 10 a.m. at St. Gabriel’s Church of the Holy Family Parish, Rev. James Weighner officiating with interment in the Calvary Cemetery, both in Prairie du Chien. Friends may call at the church on Tuesday, Feb. 28, from 8:30 a.m. until the time of services. In lieu of flowers, memorials are preferred to Prairie Catholic Schools. The Garrity Funeral Home of Prairie du Chien is assisting the family.
