Rosella Elizabeth “Toots” (Strauman) Scherlin, 96, of Prairie du Chien, passed away Friday, Dec. 23, at Crossing Rivers Assisted Living, Prairie du Chien.
Toots was born on July 2, 1920, in Prairie du Chien, to Emil and Mary (Pyar) Strauman. Rosella was united in marriage with Edward Scherlin on May 30, 1940, at St. John Catholic Church, Prairie du Chien. She worked at MiLady’s Clothing Store in Prairie du Chien, with her sister-in-law, Millie Maxwell. After MiLady’s closed, Rosella began working at 3M until her retirement. She enjoyed dancing with Ed, cooking and spending time with her family.
Rosella is survived by many nieces and nephews. She was preceded in death by her husband, Edward on May 30, 2009; parents, Emil and Mary Strauman; brothers, Richard, Lawrence, Daniel and twin brother, Russell; and her sister, Florence.
Mass of Christian Burial will be held at 10 a.m. on Friday, Dec. 30, at St. John Catholic Church in Prairie du Chien, with a visitation one hour before Mass from 9 a.m. to 10 a.m. at the church on Friday. Reverend Jim Weighner will be the Celebrant. Burial will follow at Evergreen Cemetery in Prairie du Chien.
Thornburg-Grau Funeral Home and Cremation Service, in Prairie du Chien, is helping the family with arrangements.
