The Prairie du Chien Cross Country team competed well at the Southwest Wisconsin Conference meet at River Valley Thursday afternoon. The girls’ team placed fourth and the boys’ team sixth in the very competitive conference.
“They all ran awesome! You could just see the focus and determination in their eyes. They are peaking exactly when we need them to,” said Assistant Coach Alli Klein.
Amber Huser and Ella Hein ran personal bests and made First Team All Conference finishing third and seventth overall, respectively.
Karly Jaynes also had a personal record (PR) to finish in 18th place. Faith Dillman had a strong race and kept her eyes on Karly to finish in 26th place. Maddie LaRocque finished in 51st place to round out the varsity scoring.
Also running a PR and making the sectional team was freshman Nicole Steiber. While they didn’t make the sectional team, Maddi Roche, Allison Riebe and Mari Hauschildt all ran personal bests taking, on average, over a minute off their previous bests. Harlee Eastman ran one of her best races of the season taking over 4 minutes off her previous time on this course.
Many of boys also ran personal bests for the year. Magnus Goltermann and Sawyer Brown finish first and second for the team with their best times of the season. Blake Bartels and Chase Watson also had personal bests. Jayce Sexton, Collin Seeley and Jaret Semanko ran strong and will join the others to represent Prairie du Chien at the sectional meet Saturday in Platteville.
